2010 Win Projection Results

Last week, I revealed my final rankings. Of course, those were based off of the teams’ performances for the year. At the beginning of the year, we analyze all teams and their schedules to project what we expect to see as the final standings for the year. Of course, injuries, weather and team dissension are factors that we cannot account for. This year is the first in many years that the MFS and oddmaker experts were off on so many teams. We figured that with a tough schedule and a young team on defense, tight end and no established run game that the Patriots would struggle. HA! Waaaaaay wrong! That was just one case of missing the mark by a lot, but there were others that we missed on for other reasons.

A few notes from to note in comparing the results from 2010 to 2009:

  • The AFC East finishing order was identical to last year
  • Cincinnati went from first-to-last in the AFC North
  • After having an outside shot at all being over .500, only one AFC South team finished over .500.
  • Kansas City went from last-to-first in the AFC West
  • Dallas went from first-to-last in the NFC East
  • Minnesota went from first-to-last in the NFC North
  • The NFC South had the widest discrepancy in talent from the top players to the bottom
  • It goes without saying that the NFC West should be contracted

My prediction of Baltimore beating Green Bay in the Super Bowl is still in play. Of course, each has a tougher route to Dallas than I initially expected they would, but they are both playing well right now.

Super Bowl Squares Pools

Once again this year, we are not only allowing our members to host their own Super Bowl Pools for free, but we are running our own Pools as a service to our members and to raise some money for a worthy cause. 10 percent of the MFS Public Pool fees will be donated to the American Cancer Society. We have set up Pools at $20 per square and $5 per square. We will be accepting cash only PayPal payments (credit card payments incur processing costs and we want to maximize our donation) or check payments. Payment addresses are listed below. Payments must be received by February 4 or the squares will be released. Please email us with questions and feel free to invite your friends to play. When a Pool fills up, we'll create a new Pool with the same settings (time permitting) and update the posting on the site Message Board with the new registration information. The Pool Settings are listed below. Thanks for your participation and willingness to help fight cancer.
